It is a symbol given to establishments throughout the world that are committed to providing "hospitality and support to customers contending with memory loss, confusion or other symptoms associated with dementia." In other words, they are dementia friendly establishments. read more

Age shouldn't negatively impact the rate and diversity of what a person learns; if anything, it should improve it. Too often though, once we or our loved ones reach old age, and transition to a nursing home or assisted living, those options (and maybe even desires) for learning greatly change or diminish. read more

It started out as a routine doctor's visit. As the elevator door opened, I saw an elderly gentleman waiting to get on the elevator. Beside him was what appeared to be his wife in a wheelchair pushed by a home assistant. Although the elevator was mostly full, I smiled and told them to get on. Perhaps I had spoken too soon. I could see the reaction of the others who were already on the elevator. read more
