10 Steps to Increasing Senior Living Move-Ins

Take these steps to motivate prospects to choose your senior care community.

Are you running a senior care facility? Do you seek to increase the number of inquiries and move-ins you get? Here are 10 steps to building an effective marketing program that helps you attract more seniors to your facility.

1.Motivate your staff to provide superior care

Communicate your commitment to serve through your daily words and actions. Your facility’s professionalism, attention to detail, and compassion should permeate everything you do. This will motivate your staff to provide superior care. The higher the quality of care and the more caring your communications are internally and externally, the greater trust customers will have in your senior living community.

2.Make marketing a top priority

Effectively managing operations and caring for patients is crucial, but marketing also needs to be a top priority. Someone on your team should be responsible for creating, implementing, and making continuous improvements to your marketing program.

3.Avoid jargon

In your marketing materials, avoid the use of jargon and industry terminology because your prospects may not understand it. Associate the features that your senior care community offers with the benefits that residents will reap.

4.Tell stories

Everybody connects with stories. Highlight the stories of residents who have benefitted from your services, so you can create an emotional connection with prospects.

5.Focus on niche markets

Focus on niche markets to narrow down your competition. For example, you can focus on serving residents with dementia, diabetes, or hearing loss. There are also niche retirement communities in which residents engage over shared interests, such as art, religion, or fitness. Define the wants and needs of each type of resident you’re targeting and offer services that cater to them.

6.Pull prospects in with content marketing

The public is tired of pushy sales tactics. Content marketing, or providing informative content that is valuable to your target market, attracts prospects and pulls them in. This makes it easier for your prospects to proceed through the decision-making process and choose your facility.

7.Get involved in the local community

Get involved with events and organizations in your local community. This will give you the opportunity to shine and strengthen relationships, encouraging people in your community to send new clients and residents your way.

8.Optimize your website for desktop and mobile

Having a strong online presence is crucial. These days, people are visiting your site with all types of devices, from desktop computers, to tablets, to mobile devices. Build a responsive website for your senior living community that looks great on all screens.

9.Create a referral program

Make referrals a part of your outreach strategy. Rewarding people who refer new residents to your facility is a cost-efficient way to drive sales.

10.Follow up quickly with online leads

When you get leads online, follow up with them quickly. These are golden opportunities, so treat them as such. You can set up automated marketing emails to nurture new leads.
