How to Use Events as a Promotional Tool for Senior Care Marketing

Get tips on using events as a tool for senior care marketing

Senior care marketing has become more challenging in recent years, as potential residents try to stay home longer to cut costs and senior living facilities serving the baby boomer market continue to spring up. One of the best ways to reach the senior market and promote your assisted living facility is through hosting events.

Seniors love to attend events. We all know that seniors enjoy free food and entertainment, so hosting free events for seniors is an excellent way to draw them into your facility. Seniors tend to feel isolated as they age, so these events give them the opportunity to meet new people, have new experiences, and continue learning.

Host an Open House

Community outreach events show your involvement in the local community and give you opportunities to network and promote your facility. By organizing an open house once a month or so, you can connect with prospective residents. At an open house event, you can serve a meal, offer entertainment, and take the time to show prospective residents why your facility is such a great place to live.

Host a Speaker Series

Hosting a speaker series on different topics is a great way to draw your target audience to your community. It puts your facility on the map as an important resource for local seniors. Seniors always appreciate lectures by physicians, physical therapists, funeral home directors, and other experts. Some popular topics for the speaker series might include relevant medical subjects like arthritis and depression.

The key to success when organizing these types of events is to collect the names and contact information of all the attendees, so you can stay in touch with them using targeted communications. Follow up with them after that on a regular basis to promote your senior living facility and keep it top-of-mind.

Host an Expo

Another idea is to host an expo. You can rent a convention hall or host the event on your own grounds. Invite organizations to purchase tables and promote their wares, such as medical devices. You can also invite speakers to run workshops. Prepare a presentation about your own community for attendees, as well. Below are other types of events that you can host at your assisted living facility:

  • Seminars
  • Concerts
  • Classes
  • Health Fairs
  • Holiday parties
  • Club luncheons
  • Exercise programs
  • And more…

Host Workshops Off-Site

Approach churches and hospitals in your area and ask if you can host workshops. For example, you could offer a workshop with tips for caring for an aging parent. Make the workshop very informative, explaining the different options that adult children have when it comes to caring for their aging parents. Make business cards and pamphlets about your community available to participants.

Take advantage of the above event marketing tips to start improving lead generation for your assisted living facility today. Events offer innumerable opportunities to get the word out about your business while allowing you to make a difference in your local community.
